This experience is created to premiere on the Oculus Rift utilizing touch controllers to create a deeper sense of immersion.

Meet Eliza: Science is Storytelling
Eliza McNitt is a writer and director of films and virtual reality experiences. Her work has been described by the New York Times as “beautiful and surprising.” Her unique voice as a director, fusing science with narrative storytelling has been supported by The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Global Dialogues, TED, Google, and Time Warner OneFifty.

Dot of Light is the story of three astronauts and their journey to the stars. Through archival footage, immersive imagery of space exploration, and intimate interviews with astronauts Dr. Kathryn D. Sullivan, Nicole Stott, and Anousheh Ansari, this short film brings to life the stories of women who defied expectations, set records, and pioneered space travel.

Eliza McNitt's first virtual reality project, Fistful of Stars, explores the cosmos alongside The Hubble Telescope and serves as a proof of concept for Pale Blue Dot. The New York Times profiled the experience writing "I became engulfed in strawberry-tinged clouds streaking through a wide inky expanse. A turn of the head opened up new vistas — orbs of light; a milky stream of lavender — in a virtual journey through the Orion Nebula that was beautiful and surprising, and over far too soon.”
