Kate Parsons is an educator, video artist and VR content creator living in Los Angeles. She obtained her M.F.A. in Media Arts from UCLA in June of 2015, and completed her M.A. in Digital Art and Video in May of 2013. She also holds a B.F.A. in Fine Art and Graphic Design.
Much of Kate's practice involves the marriage of the visual and the aural, working with musicians and dancers to create inventive audio-visual experiences. Her graduate studies involved research into the myriad ways humans mourn and express grief. She and her partner Ben Vance (of Buffalo Vision) make up the collaborative entity FLOAT, which focuses on creating imaginative visual music work for VR.
Her work has appeared with MOCA.tv, the Toronto Film Festival's TIFFxPOP, VR Scout, VICE's The Creators Project, at The Museum of The Moving Image, Hammer.org, FringeArts in Philadelphia, and Summer Stage in New York City. She has had the pleasure of working with director Mark Pellington and musicians such as Silversun Pickups, Kid606, Baths, Daedelus, Slugabed, MAST, Ruth B, and RYAT.
