Joel Newton is CEO of The Congregation. The Congregation Virtual Reality Opportunity Fund is a $100M Fund focused on opportunities in VR content and distribution. Unlike early-stage VC funds, The Congregation primarily invests in projects, not companies.
Joel is also the Co-Founder of The Virtual Reality Company, producing content for the emerging platform of VR. Along with VRC co-founders Robert Stromberg and Chris Edwards, and a collective of other major Hollywood artists, Joel was part of the team creating the Hydra Process, a 10-phase reinvention of how movies are developed and produced. Before launching Hydra, Newton was an artist manager for seven years representing writers and directors. During that time, he was also a producer on two award-winning films. Joel attended the University of Southern California’s film school and is married with three kids.
